Sounds like the poles, doesn't it?
Unfortunatly, that is not the case.
The King of Jerusalem, at Joshua's time, was marching into a war aginst the people of Gibeon. Safety was assured by the Israelites when the people of Gibeon tricked Israel into a peace treaty.
Because of this pact, Joshua had to defend the people of Gibeon.
When they marched to the battle, the Amorites were taken by suprise and they began to fled.
In wartime, when you fled, your best chance is during the night, because you can sneak away.
Joshua knew that so he asked God to let the sun stay still. And it did so, for a whole day.
You can't say that it is insignificant or there is a reason behind it because the longest daylight is 15 hours, but not 36 or something like that. It was recorded on books too.
Jesus himself said "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, it is enough. You can say to a mountain, 'move from here to there' and it will move."
